Faculty Convocation
The University of Memphis will celebrate the scholarly and creative achievements of its faculty during Faculty Scholarship Week April 16-23. The event will showcase the scope and quality of books, articles, CDs, films, art, and other work produced by faculty members. The week coincides with the annual Faculty Convocation, at which the University honors professors and others for outstanding achievement in teaching, research, and engaged scholarship.

The Musical Life of an International Concert Artist in Iran
A film, discussion, and performance featuring Dr. Lily Afshar, noon, McWherter Library, Room 225.

Dr. Albert Okunade's inaugural lecture as First Tennessee Professor of Economics, "The Production of Obesity Epidemics in the U.S.: New Evidence of Economic and Social Burdens, and Public Policy Implications," noon, McWherter Library, Room 225.
April 22, 2008
Dr. Miguel de Beistegui of the University of Warwick will discuss "The Erosion of Democracy," 3 p.m., Clement Hall, Room 317.
Faculty Convocation
April 23, 2008
Rose Theatre; faculty in full academic regalia will process from the McWherter Library to the Rose Theatre beginning at 1:45 p.m.; awards presentations begin at 2 p.m.; reception and displays of scholarly and creative work by University faculty, 3 p.m.
